tambourine

Do you have any cool ideas for improvements of Addictive Drums or Addictive Keys?

tambourine

Hey guys dont you think that you should give the current buyers of AD atleast 1 tambourine with the original version instead of buyin the retro pack. It would be a nice gesture and I will consider buying the retro pack in the future, its called good KARMA!

Thx happy new year

I also would appreciate the addition of a tambourine to AD, but I don't have the cash for the expansion pack. I would also really like to have hand claps available--perhaps it would be possible to make such individual instruments available for download for a small fee. (Although a complimentary tambourine would be a much appreciated gesture).

thats a good idea tp a small fee for individual instruments would be awesome, not to complain about no tambourine but i really have no use for a cowbell

Tambourines, AdPaks and Import Facilities

Postby steveecrane » Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:06 pm

All,

Just so that you know the UK likes tambourines too - please can we have a complimentary tambourine (in place of the dreaded cowbell :shifty: ) but leave that slot open for later expansion as a 'percussion slot'.

Maybe that's the next revolution in music: perhaps all that dance, soul, R'n'B and jazz has been crying out for a cowbell! :D

I'll willingly pay £5 per sample to fill it ... but, like the other contributors, find the pricing of an entire AdPak a bit on the steep side.

I can currently buy an entire Toontrack product (street prices) for less than a sound pack from Addictive! :oops: And that's from a UK dealer, not an on-line supplier in the good ole US of A where these things have a tendency to be better value! :}

I hope my little soap-boxing helps ...

PS Talking of other drum and percussion developers, when will we be able to import beats and fills from those guys? Seems a little wasteful to re-invent the wheel when there's already so much third-party 'support' out there. Again, I'd pay c€50 for a generic import facility of this kind ... so long as it: i) was truly generic; and ii) actually worked!
Cheers,

Steve.

Tamb request noted! The cowbell slot is already renamed Xtra in AD 1.1 and loads tambs and claps with Retro. Other percussive stuff may appear there too.

Regd beat import, there is already lots of AD loops available from groovemonkee.com.

We reinvented the wheel a bit because the wheel (GM) wasn't good enough. :) We have 12 hihat articulations instead of GM's 3, 6 snare variations instead of GM's 3 etc etc. It has its pros and cons of course. If we had followed the GM standard we would have been forced to put "the rest" scattered all over the place.
Full GM support and remapping is planned for a future upgrade! There are also some drum maps available for download that lets you use GM midi files with AD quite easily. (Not all hosts support drum maps though)

Already any more detailed plans about givin the Tamb to the mob of AD 1.1 users who did not buy the Add-on just for that thing?
Wold be just great! Charging some pound for will be fine as well, just give it to us ;)

It's almost 2010 and I was wondering if XLN is any closer to a tambourine add-on? I was disappointed to hear that the Funk pak will contain yet another cowbell. I find myself loading JS2 just to add a nice tambourine, but then I lose the AD effects on it. Perhaps we'll get a holiday surprise?

Peace \/

reading through the previous posts on this page- it makes me really want XLN to start offering individual kit pieces for a 5 dollar download. It would be so awesome! they could be like "we were at a drum shop and found this incredible Pearl Snare" or "this new ride cymbal just came out and we thought you should hear it!" and then we could download it. It could mean some quick money for XLN, and some great new kit pieces for us.

(hint) Hey XLN, start with Sabian's Fierce Ride and Fierce Hats- super versatile for jazz and electronica.

BRILLIANT idea! XLN, please consider this! This is fast money for you, really :)

Plus, we can then REALLY customize our AD :)

Exactlly- that way if they're like "check out this cool Gong bass drum we recorded" someone could go "I don't really need a gong bass drum" but everyone else could get it and add it to their kits. If you figure that the Jazz Sticks pack was $60 for 12 kit pieces, then we paid 5 bucks a pop for each piece anyway. I didn't really need that cowbell though. I gladly would have paid $20 dollars just for those toms- they are incredible. They could even make the more detailed pieces like snare and hats, which have tons of articulations, cost more - like maybe 6 bucks, and maybe $5.50 for a ride. They could sell all kit pieces ala carte like this, but then still offer the regular AdPaks so it would be like a bundled deal that would save you some money as well as giving you the included presets and beats.

I'm telling you Dragon- we're like idea machines, the two of us. :) I want to work for XLN but they might not be able to keep up with all of the zaniness flying out of my brain.

Hehehe. I just hope they'll listen to us, because the per-kitpiece selling idea could surely bring them some more income - perhaps even more than they're willing to admit!

Of course, such transfers would be download-only, because I can't really imagine them doing a boxed version for each kitpiece.

XLN, please take a look at Tonehammer and Cinematique Instruments. They are all doing highly specialised sample libraries, with VERY affordable prices. They have a lot of very satisfied customers. Now, I'm not saying that you don't have satisfied customers, I'm saying that you could have EVEN MORE satisfied customers!
