HAD been encountering problems getting the demo to work. That nasty DAE 7401 error was popping up. But now I found a fix. The solution (well, for me) was the following:
Windows 7 lets you 'click into' zip files. So it's easy to run the installer from the downloaded zip by navigating into the zip file's folder structure.
Not a good idea it seems, although it will run the installer without any apparent problems.
If you've done that, as I did, just uninstall the demo. Then unzip the download file (right click and 'extract all') and run the installer in the newly extracted folder.
