drum setup size for AD

Postby Ghost-musician » Thu Jan 27, 2011 11:48 pm

Hi there,

I've recently begun looking into using VST drums on an E-drum kit ( am most likely going to use Alesis drums with a Trigger I/O) and I am trying to figure a few things out, so here's hoping you guys can fill me in on some details.

- With AD, what is the maximum size of the E-kit that I can use? I've noticed from pictures and tutorials on Youtube that most setups are a snare, hi-hat, bassdrum, two toms and two floor toms at most. Is this the max I can use or can I expand? I am wanting to build a e-kit similar to the setup of Phil Collins ( which is four tom-toms and two floor toms basically).
- Most definitely not related, but I didn't feel like littering the forum with new messages: is it possible to 'tune' a snare or tom sound to actually bring it up in tonality? I know it's possible with a Roland TD-20, is this a feature of AD as well or not?

AD is limited to the amount of kit pieces that are shown on the kit page, But what you could do is open a 2nd track of AD in your host and use that for the other kit pieces you have.

Yes you can change the tuning of any kit piece

Thanks for the quick reply :)

Opening a 2nd track in my host, would that allow simultaneous playing or does it require me to tinker with the drum tracks?

In most hosts you can simply map out the remaining pads in the second track and then record enable both tracks to get it up and running.
