Foo Fighters kit?

Postby BaldByChoice » Fri May 15, 2009 7:32 pm

Does anyone here have a Foo Fighters-ish kit? :)

Funny, I just came on the forum to ask the same question. None of the preset kits seem to come close to it.

Which album did you have in mind? Maybe I could make one. Are you talking old school Foo or their more recent stuff that has a bit more of a crisp snare sound?I have recently gotten a bit better at mixing and compressing in AD (which is actually very easy compared to mixing with the retarded Inferior Drummer 2.0).

personally I'd prefer the earlier stuff, from colour and the shape. If you could get a drum sound like the one on hey, johnny park I'd worship your internet presence forever <3 <3 <3

ha!

Here it is, finally. I've been busy this weekend. Definitely tried my best. AD doesn't really have any tome that get that right sound- the DWs had too much ring, the Sonors too much snap, and the Oysters from the Retro series had too much bite due to the coated heads, and the Vistalites sounded too dull, so I couldn't completely nail the sound, but the snare, bass, hats, and cymbals are all pretty close, as are the notes of the toms.

Here is a recording of the preset with the beat from the first part of the song. I made the beat so that I could hear the preset properly in context.

I can attempt to make more presets if you like them- this was fun and a good challenge.

This is my Foo Fighters preset, this one sounds like the 2005-2009 album kits.
Ive got another preset that I use for One By One songs, let me know if you want them, so I can upload em!

I can definitely hear some similarities, and you did some cool things with the mixing, but I had some trouble with the cymbals clipping really hard, I think maybe it was the overhead eq, but I'll mess with it some more and see if I can get it working a little more to my tastes.

oh, right... well still inferior- high RAM load for less expressiveness than you can get out of AD with half the RAM space killed and a far more intuitive interface with way better envelopes and effects. I frickin' love AD.
