Vienna is not too expensive.

You have Special Edition Bundle which is very affordable for what it contains. Vienna Special Edition Standard is 345€, Extended 465€, and if you buy both in the bundle it's 810€. You have Special Edition Plus, which are additional articulations, you can buy that later on if you have the need for it. Plus Standard is 445€, Plus Extended is 390€, Plus Full (both at once) is 835€.

This is all very fair pricing when you consider the quality, flexibility, and the engine it contains. Don't be a cheapskate, if you want the real deal, save up for it :) The basic Special Edition Standard contains a lot of really useful stuff, and costs about the same as AD+Retro ADpak.

You don't have to buy the Cube (9200€), you know :P

I only have the solo strings, hardly ever works, crackles and the articulations change, new machine n' all, omphed more than enough.

I guess I wish they'd come out with a "Pop-Strings" version or something, it's usually too much to get into for me. I'll check out those editions though, sounds very reasonable. Wish they would come as normal ones, with mulitiple outputs without having to re-build your machine, it's been rediculous although catching up.

The quality of course is perfect, much like AD. The difference? With AD, you learn to play, with Vienna you need a P.hd, in my humble opinioin of course.

Of course, it's dry samples, you must know how to process and position them with an IR reverb, and stuff like that. It's flexible, but with flexibility comes the need for knowledge. Same with AD - it's not like EZD which is dry, it gives you all the tools used when recording drums, and if you don't know how to setup a live drum sound in the studio, you'll get not so good stuff with AD.

About crackles and stuff like that with Vienna, you haven't installed it on its own SEPARATE hard drive, right? Because that's the only thing that needs to be done to ensure flawless operation.

Hi ya, actually got my solo strings to work great today, dunno why that is now? I've always had the sounds on a separate drive, but I might have forgot to update after I got Vista.

Checked out the download version of the Special Edition now and tried to by it, but there's some maintenence going on, so I'll have to wait 'til tomorrow or something. Decided (lack of patience) to get the download version, very cheap. Any idea why the DVDs are 81 gb and the download is about 14gb, what have they done exactly? I still want it to sound as great as the solo strings do u know. They're not mp3's right? lol

And yes, I definitely know more about drums than strings, so many articulations, lacking theory again :shifty:

There are several separate downloads for Special edition, for strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion. Same for Plus.
