 The Addictive Drums story...
XLN Audio was started by Lars Erlandsson & Niklas Möller in the summer of 2005.
But the idea for Addictive Drums was born almost 2 years before that, when they both spent their days producing music for various artists in their Stockholm studio. Getting drumtracks to sound good was always a very labour intensive task, and a finished production "setup" not easily transferable to another project.
One day it just hit them: what if you put a sample library, a sample player, and lots of effects in one easy to use package? That would mean you could change the whole mix with one mouse click.. and re-use the same mix in several songs... the idea was mindboggling! And like many brilliant ideas, it seemed so simple. Why hadn't anyone done this already? They started thinking about how to make it happen..
Fast forward to November 2006. Addictive Drums is just about ready to be released, and the team behind it has expanded to five people:
- Niklas Möller
- Lars Erlandsson
- Magnus Lidström (main programmer, the guy behind uTonic and the Malström synth in Reason)
- Martin Eklund (Graphics guru who has programmed the outstanding interface in AD)
- Jakob Möller (Our in-house drummer, who has provided all the cool beats and fills)
The response from our beta testers has been outstanding so far.
We are so very proud of this product, and hope to fill this site with lots more information real soon!
