There is a workaround. If I save a new default song in Logic 7 with AD multi loaded, it will open and work on logic 8 too.
Since I didn't own L7, I asked and a fellow "Gearslut" emailed me a L7 template with AD multed out.

I KINDA works. You can't solo or mute which kinda sucks.

I hope this can get sorted quick!

I LOVE Addicitive Drums BTW. Really great product. I use AD like 85% of the time over BFD now. The presets are great and the interface is the way things should be. Nice work guys!!!

Spectrasonics posted a fix for Stylus RMX multi-output in Logic pro 8 this morning. C'mon XLN!

I must say i haven't had ANY problems with Logic* and Addictive. The multi-outs seem to work FINE to me. But that could be opening old L7 projects. I THINK I've done a new one though.

I really wouldn't worry, people.

Ugrade to L8 asap - it's very, very good.

L8 IS very good I agree...

But... if you've found a way to get mults to work in a new project I'd love to know how. (I'm not being sarcastic... I'd really love to know!)

Also... do Solo and Mute work in your L7 projects with the multed AD tracks? Mine don't. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I had a fellow Gearslut email me his L7 template that had AD multed and it worked... but Solo and Mute didn't.

?

Sharky,
it was me who sent you the L7 song. I don't have any problem with it. Try to save the song I sent you as a L8 song and reopen it. As I said, it works perfectly for me.

All the best.

You don't necessarily need to have AD in your default song. Just save a Channel Strip Setting with AD(multi out) in Logic 7.
If you recall that setting in Logic 8, bingo, you have the multi out version of AD.
Works for all multi out instruments, not just for AD.

At least they finally added a way to name the busses in AU. Unfortunately they forgot to implement it in Logic. Wink
So it's still as bad as in Logic 7. It seems to work in Ableton Live at least.

Lars, I can see that some AUs offer several pre-configured multi out options in Logic 8's plugin menu, like "Multi Out (16 x stereo)", "Multi Out (1 x stereo, 14 x mono)", etc..
AD at the moment shows as "Multi Out (8 x stereo)" when imported from Logic 7.

When you update AD for Logic 8 compatibility, would you make it so that AD offers "Multi Out (8 x mono, 4 x stereo)", so that the "+" in Logic's Instrument Channel will create the appropriate Aux objects automatically?

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does that mean?
In Logic the sub-outs appear as "Addictive 3-4", "Addictive 5-6", etc..
In Live they appear as "3/4-Addictive Drums", "5/6-Addictive Drums", etc..
Should they actually appear as "Kick/Snare - Addictive Drums", "HiHat/Cowbell - Addictive Drums", etc...?

Yes, the outputs should be named, but AU never supported that. In VST and RTAS you see the actual names. Now AU supports it but it STILL doesn't work in L8..

AD will be 8*mono and 4*stereo in L8 when we release the update!

Is there any idea when to expect this update?

As has been requested, I, too, would like 8 mono Auxes and 4 stereo Auxes as output options in the Logic 8 output menu. There are some good points about Logic 8 and some bloody infuriating aspects that are driving me ****ing apeshit, this being one of the most serious. I have to rely on a Logic 7 Addictive autoload to get by at present.

1. It seems there is a bug in Logic 8 with separate outputs. If we follow the AU standard, it won't work in Logic 8. Confirmed by Apple.
2. It sems that L7 songs with multi instruments won't load correctly in L8. The song will load but not AD. You will lose all your settings, basically you'd have to reload your instrument (AD) and start from scratch.
The workaround would be to load up every song you've made in L7 and saving the AD settings as a preset.. Then upgrade to L8, load the songs and manually hook everything up again an load the preset you originally used.

Still awaiting more details from Apple on this, it sounds like bad news.. :/
