If you can't find the answer to your question in this FAQ or just want in depth information on technical subjects you should check out our Knowledge Base. We've got a collection of articles explaining subjects like what the difference between 32 and 64 bit is and how the Online Installer works.
Yes, according to the license agreement you're allowed to have two active computers for one license.
No, not in the current version of Addictive Drums.
No, the current version of Addictive Keys does not include a MIDI library.
An internet connection on your audio computer is required for installation. If you have a connection, but don't normally have your computer connected, we highly recommend doing so temporarily so that you can run the Online Installer. The Online Installer will make sure that all your registered products are installed, up to date and authorized.
NOTE: If you are not able to connect your computer to the internet at all, there is a way to install and authorize Addictive Drums (but not Addictive Keys). This "offline" solution will not include the latest products such as the 64 bit version of AD and content products released after May 2012.

Please see this article: Installing AD on an external drive
The full version replaces the demo. Any preset made or song saved with the demo will sound exactly the same in the full version.
See this page for detailed information: Installation Instructions
My Cloud (or Cloud Sync as it is called in the Online Installer) is a convenient way to store and share presets and memos for Addictive Keys. All saved presets and Memos will automatically be uploaded to your XLN account when using Addictive Keys. When working on more than one computer all saved presets and Memos will automatically be synchronized with MyCloud. Make a fresh install on a new computer and Addictive Keys will automatically download all saved presets and Memos making them available in an instance. You can choose not to install it if you wish – simply uncheck it in the Online Installer (and hit the Remove button to uninstall it if needed).
Addictive Drums is a virtual Instrument plugin, and can't currently be run as a "standalone" software (that's why there's no startup icon for it). You load it into a host software such as Cubase/Logic/ProTools etc. See a complete list of supported hosts here: System Requirements
See this article: Forcing Logic to rescan AU plugins
Make sure that you have created a Stereo Instrument Track. If you create a Mono Instrument Track, Addictive Drums / Keys won't show up in the list: How to load Addictive Drums in all supported hosts
First of all, try rescanning plug-ins in your host. If you’re on a PC and it’s still not working, then it’s possible that your host is not scanning the right folder for plug-ins. In a Windows 64-bit environment, the "Addictive Drums.dll"/”Addictive Keys.dll” plug-in files are by default installed into these folders:
32-bit dll: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Vstplugins
64-bit dll: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins
However - if you are running Windows 32-bit, then you will only have the 32-bit plug-in file on your system, and it will be located in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. Make sure that your host scans the folder for the appropriate plug-in file.
The Online Installer will handle all downloads, installations and authorizations for you. See this page for more information:
Installation Instructions
The computer ID used in the authorization process is based on different hardware and software specifications in your computer. There must be something in your computer that changed the computer ID, and thereby removing the authorization. Maybe you are using multiple hard drives, or have made a large update of hardware or software lately?
To redeem this issue, simply run the Online Installer. You will be asked to add your computer again. After that, hit the "Install and update all" button to authorize your products.
Yes. Here's how you do it: Use the Online Installer to uninstall the products you want to sell. Tell the buyer to create an account with us and give us his/her e-mail address. After that we will transfer the licenses to the new owner's account.
If you still have the password to your account, you can log-in and change the e-mail address yourself. If not, please contact us through the form on this page and we will help you.

Many of the items in the Beats list are not single grooves, but groove categories. Click the white arrow next to a groove to unfold all variations of that groove.

Click on the preset name ("Startup" by default). This will unfold a menu that contains all preset categories.
Yes. On the EDIT page you can copy and paste sampler and inserts settings separately, using The [C] and [P] buttons.
Here's the link to a document that guides you through using separate outputs with Addictive Drums in all supported host softwares:
The faders in the bottom mixer section controls the mic levels. Rides and cymbals do not have dedicated mics. However, you still have quite good control since all KitPieces have level controls for how much of the recorded sound should be present in the OH and Room channels (EDIT page, top left).

If you need a very close and dry sound, you could use the OH as the close channel for Cymbal/Ride, and then turn the OH levels to zero for the rest of the KitPieces.
Yes, both the full and demo version. For GM, simply choose the GM Map Preset on the BEATS page. The Map Window features E-drum support with custom MIDI remapping and maps for many common models are included.
All sounds in AD and AK were recorded, edited and mixed at 24 bit and either 88.2 or 96 kHz. After mixing, they are converted to our own format, which is 44.1 kHz and uses variable bitdepth, which is very effective on percussive/decaying sounds. Our compression algorithm is virtually lossless, and the signal to noise ratio is around 140db, equivalent of 24-bit resolution.
Samples are initially streamed from disk until they are fully loaded and reside safely in RAM. This may put a little more strain on your harddrive when you switch presets, but after a few seconds the pressure eases and the drive is entirely free to serve your audio tracks. This solution enables quick preset previewing without sacrificing valuable harddrive bandwidth once you have chosen your preset. It also means that in a live situation, disk access problems won't cause audio glitches!
An AD kit or AK instrument uses about 400-700 MB of RAM, but it is recommended to get yourself at least 4 GB of RAM, and use a 64 bit OS. All audio computers like lots of RAM, and besides Addictive Drums / Keys you have the OS, host application and other plug-ins usually wanting a few hundred megabytes as well. When a computer runs low on memory, it can start offloading stuff to disk, which slows everything down massively and can cause audible glitches.
