Brazilian Timbau

The timbau is a Brazilian drum originating in Bahia. This conical instrument has a stretched nylon head over a wooden body resulting in a rich sound that is still bright enough to cut through dense mixes. Perhaps this is why it is popular in styles like Axé and Samba-Reggae. Play solo or layer with other drums to add flavor and texture.
